Pat, Being at the MF Tribute in St.Louis was the most fantastic, musical events my wife and I have ever attended. I am sure the Boss was looking down and enjoying all the great talent and NOTES being played... You are The Man now and I hope you keep the band going... God Bless... I overheard you after the MF tribute concert talking about the loss of both your father and Maynard in the same year, and I'm sorry for your losses. At the same time, I'm confident that both would have been very proud of your performance at the tribute concert. Your phenomenal playing is an inspiration to us "mere mortals" in the trumpet world. Hey Mr. Hession, Patrick, Pat, or even P-man if you prefer, I'm a Sophomore at Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, and I play Lead Trumpet in the in the Marching Band and Lead/2nd (Jazz Chair) in the Jazz Band. I have a consistant high-G and on a good day, a double-C and some-what higher. I really admire your lead trumpet skills and having the chance to be in Maynard Ferguson's band. I too had the same dream of being in his band. I wanted to join his band but I didn't know how. Now, I can't. Message back if you feel like talking or something. Patrick, What a great loss all Jazz and especially MF"s passing is... I have been following him since I was a young student at the Schillenger House (Berklee School of Music). I enjoyed every note he played; I will be at his tribute in St Louis on Sept 20th... I hope you are going to be there. My best to you and the band and hope his music continues thru you... Hey Paaaatrick, Now that a couple of days have passed now after Boss has left us, I just wanted to tell you my deepest feelings and that it must be even more sad for you than for me, but even though I only knew Maynard for a short time, I enjoyed every minute with him and you, hitting some high notes and talking trumpet!!!
